The Thule Tepui Foothill uses a series of security bolts to attach to the vehicle. These can only be removed by using a specific tool that ships with the tent.

Question: Is this tent compatible with a 2016 Toyota Highlander?

The 2016 Toyota Highlander is not recommended for use with a Thule Tepui rooftop tent. Rooftop tents should be mounted to Thule roof rack systems on vehicles with a maximum weight capacity of 165 pounds. The Thule roof rack system on the Toyota Highlander is only rated for 110 pounds. Rooftop tents should not be mounted to factory-installed roof rack systems, since they do not provide adequate shape and weight distribution for carrying the tent.
