Question: What size would be good for a French bulldog that is 27 pounds
Answer: With your french bulldog being a little bit on the larger end, you may find that the 48×48 whelping box is going to work best for you. It is plenty large enought and will possibly even have space for you to be in the box with her during the whelping. The medium size, 38×38, generally works well for most french bulldogs but does not allow much by way of extra space (it’s more cozy.)

Question: Will this work for a Saint Bernard as a whelping box?
Answer: My American Bully is a little rhino. It has worked for us but you’ll need a size up it’s cramped with what we got. 92 pounds with 8 pups.

Question: Can you buy extra pads?
Answer: Yes – highly recommend!

Question: No solid bottom? What a bad design, it would be worth the money if it had a floor. It only comes with a liner.
Answer: The whelping boxes have two layers that protect your floors. The gray paw print pad is the first moisture barrier and is absorbent. If that pad were to be overly soaked or moved, the black liner is also a moisture barrier to protect the floor. The black liner is like a fitted sheet in that it goes all the way under and up the outside of the box. This makes it so that it does not become displaced even with a dog digging or nesting. There is not hard flooring.
