Answer:There is a blue LED back light that is turned on manually. The refrigerator also has a regular light that comes on when you open the door.

Question:Can this be installed as a built-in unit vs. free-standing?

Answer:Yes, we installed it under counter as part of our kitchen cabinets.

Question:are the drawers adjustable?

Answer:The drawers are not adjustable but can be removed. The drawer right under the thermostat is also deeper to allow for more oversized bottles.

Question:Do you have to manually defrost?

Answer:The machine automatically defrosts every six hours.
